Learning that happens where the knowledge lives

The classroom gives students the theory. We open the room where it's practised: universities, courts, labs and firms, and the professionals who work in them.

For teachers & schools

Trips that put your curriculum in front of the experts and institutions behind it

We work with your teachers to agree the learning objectives first, then arrange the access.

Know what your child will learn, who they'll learn from, and how they'll be looked after

Students learn the theory in class. With ReadTrips, they also meet the people who apply it, in the universities, courts, labs and firms where their subject is shaped, with clear learning outcomes and strong supervision.

Stories from our trips

What students, teachers and parents say

The itinerary was really well-planned with a mix of learning and exploring unique spaces. Amazing value for money, too!
Mude Kang'ethe

Architecture student, University of Nairobi

The trip to Europe was fascinating as much as it was inspirational. It sparked an inner sense of curiosity and excitement.
Moses M

University of Nairobi

I have been grateful to experience two trips with ReadTrips and they have pushed us to explore the world further: to study abroad, to be leaders and to innovate for a sustainable future.

Why school trips matter

What students gain from a trip with ReadTrips

A well-designed trip does more than take students out of the classroom. It deepens understanding, builds confidence and shows them where their subject can lead.

  • Deeper academic understanding

Curriculum connections are made before, during and after each trip, so what students see feeds back into class.

  • Career clarity

Students meet people working in their field and see what the path, and the university route to it, looks like.

  • A global outlook

Working alongside people from different backgrounds and traditions builds a global mindset and respect for other perspectives.

  • Teamwork and communication

Planning, navigating and solving group challenges together builds cooperation and clear communication.

  • Independence and responsibility

From budgeting to managing time and money away from home, students take charge of more.

  • Confidence and resilience

Learning alongside peers, away from home, builds resilience, empathy and self-belief.

Why I started ReadTrips

“It wasn't the buildings I remember most. It was the conversations.”

I'm an architect, and I have studied inspiring places and spaces in more than 49 countries. As a fifth-year student, a structured study trip put me in a room with directors of three of the largest design firms in the UAE. That kind of access doesn't come from a textbook, and it rarely comes from a family holiday.

I began curating these places on my platform, Architectural Journeys, and that work grew into ReadTrips: opening those rooms for young Kenyan students, with the preparation, supervision and learning around each visit that make it count.

Our philosophy
We teach students to engage respectfully with the people, places and cultures they learn from, and to carry that learning home.
Our mission
Opening access to the people and places where subjects come alive.
About us

How it works

Your learning journey in four steps

One team handles the planning while your teachers stay in control of the learning.

  1. Design

Choose your subject and agree the objectives with your teachers. We align the trip with your curriculum.

You receive: a trip outline and indicative costs.

  2. Confirm

We secure the sessions and visits, finalise the itinerary, and support visas and logistics. School and parent approvals are collected.

You receive: a confirmed trip, booked under our Terms & Conditions.

  3. Prepare

Students get a learning brief and meet their guide. Parents get a briefing. Emergency plans are in place before departure.

You receive: everything families need before students leave.

  4. Learn and follow up

Guides are available 24 hours a day during the trip, and students bring what they learned back into class.

We recommend starting 6 to 9 months before departure, depending on the access requested.
