Overview
From BMW's production lines to the Eiffel Tower's ironwork, this trip follows engineering across Germany and France.
In Munich and Stuttgart, students visit the Technical University of Munich and explore how BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche take an idea from concept to production. A visit to Munich's Science Museum grounds the trip in hands-on experimentation, and a ride on Germany's high-speed rail network gives students a working example of transport engineering in practice. At the Allianz Arena, students study the engineering behind its retractable roof and inflatable façade panels, a real case in structural design, not a stadium tour.
In Paris, the trip continues with engineering landmarks: the Eiffel Tower's ironwork, and the Aerospace Museum's collection, including the Concorde, where students examine the engineering of supersonic flight.
