Overview
The Lake Turkana basin holds one of the richest records of human evolution anywhere in the world, and it is in Kenya.
Students visit Nariokotome, where the Turkana Boy, a skeleton about 1.5 million years old, was found in 1984. At Koobi Fora, in Sibiloi National Park and part of the Lake Turkana National Parks World Heritage Site, they learn how fossils are found, recorded and dated, and visit the small museum on site.
