Overview

The trip

The Supreme Court, the Capitol and the National Archives sit within a short walk of each other, so students can follow how one document, the Constitution, produces laws, courts and rights.

They tour the Supreme Court, visit the Capitol and its Visitor Center, and see the original Constitution, Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights at the National Archives. The Library of Congress shows how a legal system keeps its records, and the National Museum of African American History and Culture shows how law and civil rights have been contested.
