Law & International Relations
Arusha
Overview
This trip turns Arusha into a living classroom, where courts and tribunals reveal how international and regional justice actually works.
Students study the legacy of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda at the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals, examining how the world responded to the 1994 genocide and prosecuted its architects.
The visit continues to the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights, the continent's own human rights court, where students see how individuals and organisations can hold African governments to account for human rights violations.
A highlight is the East African Court of Justice, seated alongside the East African Community Secretariat, where students trace how six nations settle disputes and build a shared legal framework across their shared borders.
