Overview
The trip
This trip gives art students the chance to explore African art, history and innovation beyond the classroom, in Johannesburg, South Africa's economic and creative hub.
Students explore the districts of Sandton, Soweto and Maboneng through guided gallery visits and curated exhibitions, meeting contemporary African artists and creative entrepreneurs. A collaborative academic project hosted at a local university introduces higher education pathways within Africa, with guided sessions led by university faculty.
A guided visit to the Apartheid Museum traces South Africa's journey toward democracy, social justice and reconciliation, and the Cradle of Humankind, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, connects the trip to science, geography and anthropology through the origins of humanity.
