Overview

The trip

Czech composers built a national sound from folk melody.

In Prague, students see the Estates Theatre, where Mozart's Don Giovanni premiered in 1787, visit the Rudolfinum, home of the Czech Philharmonic, and the Dvořák Museum, and walk through Vyšehrad Cemetery, where Dvořák and Smetana are buried. In Brno, they explore the legacy of Leoš Janáček, who built his music on the rhythms of Czech speech.
