Overview

The trip

Abu Dhabi is one of the world's hottest and driest capitals, and one of its most closely watched sustainability laboratories.

Students visit Masdar City, a district designed around renewable energy, shade and walkability, and learn how Abu Dhabi, which relies on desalination for much of its water, produces and treats it. They walk the boardwalk at Jubail Mangrove Park to see how mangroves store carbon and protect the coast.
